14/04/2006 • China, center of the Yachting world for a week

Boat Tech China in Guangzhou, Shanghai International boat show and Ellen Mac Arthur Asian Tour, three headlines showing to the rest of the world, that boat builders, boat dealers and sailors can count as from now on China! In Guangzhou from April 3 to 5, more than 200 people coming from around the world have attended the first B to B seminar about boat building in China. Speakers with technical, legal, financial, logistics or design expertise have shared their experience of boat building in China. Quality and efficiency in pleasure craft building in China is now possible for lower cost. More information by contacting Adrien@marinedragon.com No rest and from April 6 to 9 more than 25,000 people flocked into the Shanghai Exhibition Center to attend the 2006 SIBS. Full success for that 11th boat show, breaking all records of affluence, exhibitors, size, sales and champagne! Many deals had been signed before the show to escape to the new 10% luxury tax. However, organizers, exhibitors and spectators all appreciated this show and will meet again for sure next year! More information by contacting Adrien@marinedragon.com In the meantime, Dame Ellen is establishing new records in the China Sea, beside tough weather, fishing nets, fog and container vessels. MDC was in Dalian and Shanghai to welcome B&Q. Good compromise has been found between PR operation and sport challenge. For many Chinese people, the first sailing boat they have seen in their life was the fastest in the world, B&Q. Not so bad for a beginning…
